The guerrilla girls certainly holds some of the glue that holds the feminism movement together. Throughout time , women have been given the shorter end of the stick , our bodies have been policed , our emotions , experiences and brain power have been invalidated. Men have failed to realize our power. But overtime , some of these issues have been worked upon, because of groups like the guerrilla girls, women who are fed up. Anguish, tiredness , these are all things that can spark a revolution. The guerrilla girls did so in the art world, breaking down many barriers for women artist of all race color and creed. They inspired me to think about another deficit in our continuous fight for equality. There is a taboo placed upon an exposed or nude female body, a notion of hypersexuality, especially for a female of color. I decided to pose this way, to sortve fight the power. To send a message that me showing my body doesn't make me any less valuable or more sexual than the other person.
